The Big Day
"Honey, I think it's time."
Okay, okay...that's not actually what I said when I realized that it was time to have our son, but it was a very special moment for my husband and I when we found ourselves getting ready to head to the hospital. What I do recall saying was something less romantic like, "Did I wet the bed? I can't believe I wet the bed!" Not a nice thing to say, but that's what I woke up wondering and saying. I realized that I didn't wet the bed at all. Instead, it was that my "water broke". It was time to have the baby!
Let's talk about your big day: perhaps you've thought that it was taking too long to get here. Well, hang on sister! One day, you might be looking at your one-year-old, and wondering where the time went. Hopefully, you have been using the second and third trimesters of your pregnancy to read up on labor and delivery so that you are prepared. One of the best books for me was "Husband Coached Childbirth" . I didn't even read the whole thing, but the portion I did read, still helped me. My husband also read part of it, and it was helpful for him as well. This is an excellent book on the "Bradley Method" for childbirth. Whether you have a husband or not, I recommend this book to you as it will give you much needed insight.
